Figure Annual mean NO2 concentration observed at urban background stations, 2001-2011 (EU-27)
Only urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations have been included in the calculations. Data for Cyprus, Greece and Malta are not included due to missing availability of operational urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations in the Urban Audit cities.

Figure 26th highest maximum daily 8-hour mean ozone concentration observed at (sub)urban background stations, compliance with the target is assured when this value is below 120 ug/m3, 2001-2011 (EU-27)
Only urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations have been included in the calculations. Data for Cyprus, Greece and Malta is not included due to missing availability of operational urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations in the Urban Audit cities.

Daviz Visualization Concentration status for the daily limit values of SO2 for health protection, 2011
Distribution of stations by thresholds of SO2 99.18 percentile concentrations for the year 2011. The chart is based on the 99.18 percentile of the SO2 daily concentrations, corresponding to the 4th highest SO2 concentration when data availability is 100% over the year.

Figure Troff document Percentage of urban population resident in areas where pollutant concentrations are higher than selected limit/target values, 2000-2012 (EU-28)
The rationale for selection of pollutant and corresponding limit/target values for CSI 004 is given in the justification for indicator selection.

Figure Particulate matter (PM10), 2010 - Daily limit value for the protection of human health
In the air quality directive (2008/EC/50), the EU has set two limit values for particulate matter (PM10) for the protection of human health: the PM10 daily mean value may not exceed 50 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3) more than 35 times in a year and the PM10 annual mean value may not exceed 40 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3). In some areas time extensions have been granted by DG Environment for meeting these limit values. Information about time extensions is provided by DG Environment at: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/air/quality/legislation/time_extensions.htm

Figure Carbon monoxide - 8 hour mean limit value for the protection of human health
In the air quality directive (2008/EC/50), the EU has set a limit value for carbon monoxide (CO) for the protection of human health: the CO maximum daily 8-hour mean values may not exceed 10 milligrams per cubic metre (mg/m3).
