Renewable energy consumption - outlook from IEA Definition: Renewable energy consumption is the ratio between the gross inland consumption of energy from renewable sources and the total (primary) gross inland energy consumption calculated for a calendar year.. It is calculated as the sum of the gross inland consumption of energy from renewable sources. Renewable energy sources are defined as renewable non-fossil energy sources: hydropower, wind, solar, geothermal, wave, tidal, biomass, landfill gas, sewage treatment plant gas and biogases.
