The EEA at the European Parliament: Located in Press room
The Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference: The Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference is scheduled to take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from 21 to 23 September 2011. The Conference is being prepared in accordance with the provisions of Reform Plan of the "Environment for Europe" process. The UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy is the convening body for the preparatory process.

United Nations Climate Change Conference 2011 (COP17/CMP7) - Durban: The 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 7th Session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties (CMP7) to the Kyoto Protocol, will be held in the sunny city of Durban, South Africa.

Waste•smART – creative competition: Imagine all the resources, energy and labour that are used to produce food, cars, clothes, mobile phones and everything we consume. If we do not re-use and recycle them, they could be ending up in landfills or incineration plants. Each year, EU citizens generate an average of six tonnes of solid waste per person. Waste can not only be an economic loss but also negatively impact the environment as well as human health.

Who we are: The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union. Our task is to provide sound, independent information on the environment. We are a major information source for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public. Currently, the EEA has 32 member countries.

World Environment Day 2012 – Wellbeing and happiness: our contribution to Rio+20: The Rio+20 conference, to be held in June this year, comes twenty years after the first Earth Summit (the UN Conference on Environment and Development) when Heads of State met in this same city. In order to celebrate this important occasion, and make our own contribution, the EEA is organising an event at our premises on Tuesday 5th June 2012, on World Environment Day.
