Figure Emission trends of acidifying pollutants (EEA member countries, EU-27)
The with measures (WM) projections reported by Member States take into account currently implemented and adopted policies and measures
Located in Data and maps Maps and graphs
Figure Percentage of population resident in urban areas potentially exposed to SO2 concentration levels exceeding the daily limit value, EEA member countries, 1997-2007
The limit value is 125 µg SO2/m3 as a daily mean, not to be exceeded more than three days in a year. Over the years 1997-2007 the total population for which exposure estimates are made, increases from 56 to 101 million people due to an increasing number of monitoring stations reporting under the Exchange of Information Decision.

Figure Ozone SOMO35, 2005
Located in Data and maps Maps and graphs
Figure Percentage of the urban population in EEA member countries (except Turkey) exposed to air pollution above the limit and target values
Limit values are: PM10– 50 µg/m3 24-hour average not to be exceeded for more than 35 days; NO2 – 40 µg/m3 annual average; SO2 – 125 µg/m3 24-hour average not to be exceeded for more than four days; O3 – 120 µg/m3 8-hour daily maximum not to be exceeded for more than 25 days averaged over three years.

Figure Ozone 26th highest maximum daily 8-hour average 2004
Combined rural and urban concentration map of the 26th highest daily maximum 8-hour ozone average, 2004.

Figure Sector share of ammonia emissions (EEA member countries)
Due to numerical rounding, values may not add exactly to 100%

Figure 4th highest 24-hour mean SO2 concentration observed at urban stations, EEA member countries, 1997-2007
Only urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations have been included in the calculations.

Figure Zone exceedances of the hourly SO2 limit value for vegetation, 2005
Zone exceedances of the winter season SO2 limit value for ecosystems, 2005, reported under Annual report (questionnaire) on air quality assessment and management (2004/461/EC).
