GBE Annual Conference 29/30 October 2012

"Green taxation as key for sustainable fiscal reform - The French context and European perspectives". This year's GBE annual conference will be organised in partnership with the Institut du développement durable et des relations internationales (IDDRI). The multi-stakeholder event brings together experts from academia, civil society, EU decision makers, the European Commission, and national decision makers to discuss Environmental Fiscal Reform opportunities in France and in Europe. Due to the Eurozone crisis, states and banks still have a long way to go in consolidating their budgets and deleveraging. In this context, several voices have called for broad-based fiscal reform in EU Member States to reduce budget deficits and put European economies on a more sustainable path. Two dimensions emerge from the current situation: environmental and broader fiscal reform, and national / European tax reform.
