DESCRIPTION:This is a comprehensive course that provides a solid theor
 etical and practical foundation in contaminated site management. The C
 ourse has been developed especially for individuals who manage\, regul
 ate\, investigate\, remediate\, or are impacted by contaminated sites.
  Managing these sites is a multidisciplinary task\, therefore\, integr
 ating several disciplines is necessary to efficiently and economically
  manage or make decisions regarding site issues.\n- 5 days of in-depth
  discussions by 15 leading environmental\, soil\, sediment and groundw
 ater experts representing academia\, consulting\, and government from 
 across North America. These experts will provide a comprehensive overv
 iew of hydrogeology and geochemical principles\, site assessment proce
 dures\, risk assessment and risk management tools\, remediation techno
 logies\, and management issues relating to contaminated and hazardous 
 waste sites.\n- 2 Evening optional computer based workshops on compute
 r modelling and environmental management support software. The worksho
 ps will start on the Monday night and will incorporate established and
  innovative computer modelling and support software used in groundwate
 r characterization and remediation\; risk assessment\; environmental d
 ecision support\; and contaminated site management.\n- 1\,200 page edi
 ted notebook and access to resource folder.\n- 1 half-day of outdoor h
 ands-on technical demonstrations on Site Characterization and Remediat
 ion Technologies and Techniques used in sampling and monitoring progra
 ms.\nCourse participants will receive theoretical and practical founda
 tions\, as well as important information regarding regulatory complian
 ce aspects of contaminated site management. This knowledge will be cou
 pled with a hands-on approach to understanding the tools and technique
 s for managing contaminated sites. Some experience is helpful\, but no
 t necessary\, as the Course teaches basic principles before addressing
  more advanced topics.\nThis is the only one week indoor-outdoor cours
 e being offered globally that covers all issues related to managing su
 bsurface contamination\, from theory to practice. The Course's 15 inst
 ructors are from academia\, private industry\, and government in North
  America and are recognized as leading experts and teachers in their r
 espective fields. These instructors will provide students with access
