Waterbase-Rivers: Stations

Data Table
This page was archived on 05 Dec 2016 with reason: Other (The dataset is replaced by Waterbase - Water Quality dataset, which combines Waterbase - Rivers, Lakes and Groundwater into one. It's available at http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/waterbase-water-quality/.)
The Stations table contains the physical characteristics of the Eurowaternet river monitoring stations. Each station has been assigned a unique Waterbase identifier (WaterbaseID) which can be used to link the Stations with their respective Quality and Pressure data.

Table definition
Latitude Latitude (Y) International geographical co-ordinates of the monitoring station in decimal degrees format. float(8) 0
RiverDischarge River Discharge mean long term annual river discharge in m3/s at the monitoring station. float(8) 0
RiverLength River Length river length from monitoring station to source in km. float(8) 0
CatchmentArea Catchment area upstream catchment area in km2. float(8) 0
Altitude Altitude altitude of monitoring station in m above sea level. float(8) 0
Longitude Longitude (X) International Geographical Co-ordinates of the monitoring station in decimal format. float(8) 0
RevisionYear Revision Year last year of revision or update of characteristics. int(4) 0
SeaRegionName Sea Region Name regional sea name of which sea area is a part. Consistent with Marine Convention nomenclature. nvarchar(100) 0
SeaConventionArea Marine Convention Area name of Marine Convention area. nvarchar(100) 0
WaterBodyName Water Body Name name of water body in which monitoring station is located. Water body as defined / required by Water Framework Directive. A water body may have more than one monitoring station in it. nvarchar(100) 0
RiverBasinDistrict River Basin District national name or identifier of the River Basin District in which the water body is located. River Basin Districts as required / defined by the Water Framework Directive. nvarchar(100) 0
SeaAreaName Sea Area Name sea area name or identifier into which river discharges, marine water is located, or direct discharge enters. Consistent with Marine Convention nomenclature. nvarchar(100) 0
StationType Station Type type of monitoring station. For rivers, lakes and groundwater: B = Reference, R = Representative, F = Flux, L = Largest, Most Important, I = Impact. For transitional, coastal and marine waters: B = Reference, R(PHYS) = station Representative of general conditions in terms of physico-chemical quality elements (organic matter and nutrients), I(PHYS) = station Impacted directly by discharges affecting physico-chemical conditions (organic matter and nutrients), R(HZ) = station Representative of general conditions in terms of hazardous substances, I(HZ) = station Impacted directly by discharges containing hazardous substances. Stations can be of more than one type. If so, types will be listed alphabetically with no separator e.g. FL or R(PHYS)R(HZ). nvarchar(30) 0
StationSize Station Size size of station based on upstream catchment area: < 50 km2: Small, >= 50 km2 and < 250 km2: Medium, >= 250 km2 and < 1000 km2: Large, >= 1000 km2 and < 2500 km2: Very Large, >= 2500 km2: Largest. nvarchar(20) 0
WaterbodyID Waterbody ID national identification code of water body (if applicable) in which monitoring station is located. Water body as defined / required by Water Framework Directive. A water body may contain more than one monitoring station. nvarchar(100) No WaterBodyName Water Body Name Name of water body in which monitoring station is located. Water body as defined / required by Water Framework Directive. A water body may have more than one monitoring station in it. nvarchar(100) 0
NationalStationID National Station ID national station identifier for rivers, lakes, transitional, coastal and marine waters and water quantity monitoring station. For transitional, coastal and marine waters, areas are recorded and reported as a discrete location, but location may relate to a station at a fixed geographical point, a broader area in which sampling locations vary from survey to survey or an area within a defined salinity range within which samples have been taken. When calculating loads, the national station identifier used should be the same ID previously supplied to represent the (flux) river monitoring station. nvarchar(200) 0
RiverName River Name river name at the national level. nvarchar(100) 0
CatchmentName Catchment name catchment name at the national level. For transitional, coastal and marine waters, catchment name refers to major river catchment or basin draining into transitional or coastal water. nvarchar(100) 0
CountryCode Country code ISO 3166-alpha-2 code elements varchar(2) 0
Country Country official short name in English. nvarchar(50) 0
WaterbaseName Waterbase Name name of the monitoring station for rivers, lakes, transitional, coastal and marine waters and water quantity, or the name of the groundwater body. nvarchar(200) 0
Region Region region in which water body is located at the national level. varchar(100) 0
WaterbaseID Waterbase ID internally produced, unique identifier used to represent the monitoring station for rivers, lakes, transitional, coastal and marine waters and water quantity, and groundwater body, in the format CountryCode_WaterDataSet_NationalStationID (e.g. GB_RV_12345). varchar(200) -1
