Methodology:

Vehicle stock data for road transport are modelled data derived from TREMOVE (http://www.tremove.org/model/index.htm). Population and GDP are statistical data from Eurostat (http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/portal/page/portal/statistics/themes).

Units:

Vehicle ownership is expressed in number of passenger vehicles per 1 000 inhabitants.

Truck intensity is expressed in number of trucks per million euro GDP in constant 1995 prices .
