Total EU carbon dioxide emissions
Target for 2000 is the UNFCCC and the Fifth Environmental Action Programme target of stabilisation of carbon dioxide emissions by 2000 at 1990 levels. Transport excludes emissions from international transport (in accordance with UNFCCC). No specific targets have been set for carbon dioxide beyond 2000. However, the EU (Kyoto Protocol) target for 2008?2012 is a reduction of 8 % below 1990 levels for the basket of six gases, including carbon dioxide
