The 41 regions with the highest use of water for agricultural purposes (more than 500 million m3/year) are all located in southern Europe.
United Kingdom estimations are based on 1997 data for irrigable area and reported water abstraction rates. Ireland, Luxembourg and Germany do not provide data on irrigable area for NUTS regions.
