In particular the UK, the western part of the Iberian peninsula, most of Italy, the southeast of France as well as the northern part of Scandinavia have high proportions of Annex I habitat types in their Natura 2000 sites. These are areas where high proportions of extensive agricultural habitat types are protected under the Habitats Directive.
The analysis focuses on agricultural Natura 2000 habitats that are listed in Annex I of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EC).
