The map shows the density of soil sealing in 2009, based on a 10 km2 reference grid. Green and light orange colors show areas with no or very limited sealing, while red and dark red colors show highly to fully sealed grid cells (mainly urban areas).

Metadata

Methodology:: The map is based on aggregated data, derived from the original Imperviousness change 2006-2009, 100m dataset and status layer. The original 100m grid cells were aggregated to 1km and later 10km to derive overview maps on imperviousness.
Units:: Average sealing density (in %) per 10km grid cells.
