Additional information

BOD, biological oxygen demand, is an index of the degree of organic pollution in water.

Number of river monitoring stations included in the analysis noted in brackets. BOD5 and total ammonium data from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia. Concentrations are expressed as median of annual average concentrations. Data comes from representative river stations. Stations that have no designation of type are assumed to be representative and are included in the analysis. The amount of data per station is very limited. Data for Croatia covers the period between 2003 and 2006.
