The distance-to-target-path indicator (DTPI) measures the deviation of actual emissions in 2005 from a (hypothetical) linear target path between base-year emissions and 2010 Kyoto targets

Additional information

A positive value suggests an underachievement by 2005 and a negative value represents an overachievement by 2005. The DTPI is used as an early indication of progress towards the Kyoto targets. Member States with base years other than 1990 are Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovenia (see Table 2.1). For Slovenia, the effect of carbon sinks and Kyoto mechanisms was also considered.
