Figures are based on the most recent year for which data are available: this is 2005 for all countries except for Denmark (rivers: 2004), Bosnia and Herzegovina (lakes: 2004), and Serbia and Montenegro, France and Croatia (lakes: 2003). The data are based on total oxidised nitrogen in cases where nitrate data are missing.
