The warm-water species (warm-temperate pseudo oceanic species) are moving north and cold-water species (sub-arctic species) are moving north, and have greatly decreased their presence in the North Sea. In the past 45 years, a rapid (approximately 1 100 km) northward movement along the continental shelf edge has been observed. Data are based on observations from the Continuous Plankton Recorder
