EU countries: Denmark, France, UK Accession countries: Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovak Republic, SIovenia. Background concentrations of biochemical oxygen demand are difficult to quantify and are likely to be at or below the detection limit of the analytical method of measurement, that is, between 1 and 2 mg O2/l.
