External datasets catalogue

Catalogue of all external data references used by EEA products such as indicators, maps, graphs and publications. For "external data" we intend data that is not directly produced and managed by EEA, rather provided by other organisations. Note: Data providers shall retain the primary responsibility for the quality of the data they produce and distribute (Art 7 EEA Data Policy).

External Data Spec CCE critical loads and levels exceedances — 02 Mar 2015
The objectives of the CCE are  to develop and update the methodologies enabling the assessment of critical loads;  to compile national data on critical loads into a European database;  to generate maps of European critical loads and their exceedances and to provide the results to the relevant bodies under the CLRTAP, especially for the purpose of policy support through integrated assessment. In order to perform these tasks, the CCE collaborates with a European network of National Focal Centres (NFCs) of the ICP M&M. In this context, the CCE is regularly requested by the Convention to issue calls for data to these NFCs.
External Data Spec D source code Broad scale Connectivity 2006 and trends 1990-2000-2006 — 24 Feb 2015
Connectivity (or isolation) is measured with a network-based habitat availability index that quantifies functional connectivity on the basis of the forest area, its spatial configuration, inter-patch distances, matrix permeability and specific dispersal capabilities of generic groups of forest-dwelling species.
External Data Spec Landscape mosaic pattern maps raster data years 2000 and 2006 — 24 Feb 2015
The landscape forest fragmentation in a given region is characterised from three measures: the cover share in ‘core natural’ pattern, in ‘mixed natural’ pattern and in ‘some natural’ pattern. The measures are based on the forest spatial pattern and the composition in terms of agriculture, artificial and natural/semi-natural surfaces in the immediate surroundings (~1km2) of each hectare of forest.
External Data Spec LIFE project database — 18 Feb 2015
LIFE is the EU's financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU. Since 1992, LIFE has co-financed some 4 171 projects, contributing approximately €3.4 billion euros to the protection of the environment and climate.
External Data Spec Flash Eurobarometer 379: ATTITUDES TOWARDS BIODIVERSITY — 18 Feb 2015
The European Union (EU) is committed to the protection of “biodiversity”, i.e. the diversity of animal species, flora and fauna, natural habitats and ecosystems. Although the EU has been legislating on biodiversity since the 1970s, biodiversity loss has accelerated both in the EU and globally in recent years. Biodiversity loss is an enormous challenge in the EU, with around one in four species currently threatened with extinction and 88% of fish stocks over-exploited or significantly depleted.
