The book examines quantitive aspects of agricultural production as influenced by environmental conditions and management practices. The approach used has been adopted by the Centre for World Food Studies (SOW) at Wageningen and is based on an international course held at the Agricultural University in this city.
Many exercises and examples are included in the text to facilitate direct application of the theory presented, and answers to the exercises are provided. All the models can be handled with the help of a pocket calculator.

Keep your tyres properly inflated.
This will reduce wear and tear on them and increase their longevity, thereby saving money. It also saves precious raw material: it takes 27 litres of crude oil to produce a new tire. Under-inflated tyres also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. Check your tyres at least once a month. It takes but a few minutes.
