A drought climatology for Europe
The climatology provides, for a given location or region, the time series of drought strength, the number, the mean duration, and the maximum duration of droughts of a given intensity, and the trend in drought incidence. The drought climatology is based on monthly standardized precipitation indices (SPIs) calculated on a 0.5° grid over the European region 35–70 °N and 35 °E–10 °W at time scales of 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months for the period 1901–99.
A Report on the Implementation of Directive 1999/31/EC on the Landfill of Waste May 2009
This report is a synopsis of the responses by Member States to the questionnaire (Commission Decision 2000/738/EC) covering the period 2004-2006.
Abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded fishing gear
Fishing gear has been lost, abandoned or otherwise discarded in all seas and oceans ever since fishing began. The extent and impacts of the problem have increased significantly over the last 50 years with the increasing levels of fishing effort and capacity in the world’s oceans and the increasing durability of fishing gear. Fishing activity has now extended to previously untouched offshore and deep-sea environments, which are often very sensitive to the impacts of abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG).
Adjustments to Member States’ annual emission allocations for each year of the period from 2013 to 2020 calculated applying global warming potential values from the fourth IPCC assessment report
Adjustments to Member States’ annual emission allocations for each year of the period from 2013 to 2020 calculated applying global warming potential values from the fourth IPCC assessment report, under Annex II of Commission Implementing Decision of 31 October 2013 on the adjustments to Member States' annual emission allocations for the period from 2013 to 2020 pursuant to Decision No 406/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (2013/634/EU) (OJ L 292, 21.10.2013, p. 19)
This dataset is used to adjust the emission limits published in the previous Commission decision, so as to take into account the change in the scope of the EU ETS between the second trading period (2008–2012) and the third trading period (2013–2020), as foreseen under Article 10 of the Effort Sharing Decision.

An Indicator of the Impact of Climatic Change on European Bird Populations
Rapid climatic change poses a threat to global biodiversity. There is extensive evidence that recent climatic change has affected animal and plant populations, but no indicators exist that summarise impacts over many species and large areas. We use data on long-term population trends of European birds to develop such an indicator. We find a significant relationship between interspecific variation in population trend and the change in potential range extent between the late 20 th and late 21 st centuries, forecasted by climatic envelope models. Our indicator measures divergence in population trend between bird species predicted by climatic envelope models to be favourably affected by climatic change and those adversely affected. The indicator shows a rapid increase in the past twenty years, coinciding with a period of rapid warming.
