Every year, each Member State shall submit to the Commission all the information related to their new registrations. In particular, the following details are required for each new passenger car registered: manufacturer name, type, variant, version, make and commercial name, specific emissions of CO2, mass of the vehicle, wheel base, track width, fuel type and fuel mode. Additional information, such as type approval number, engine power and engine capacity were also submitted.

A GWB is defined in WFD Art. 2 as a distinct volume of groundwater within an aquifer or aquifers, whereas an aquifer is defined as a geological layer with significant groundwater flow. This definition of a GWB allows a wide scope of interpretations.
The submission of GWB data to the Commission by the EU Member States was accomplished via the Reportnet platform, as a part of the dataflow for WFD. Art. 13 reporting. GWB data includes spatial data as GIS polygons and GWB characteristics in an XML schema. GWBs are registered to so-called horizons, which represent distinct vertical layers of groundwater resources.

AirBase is the European air quality database maintained by the EEA through its European topic centre on Air pollution and Climate Change mitigation. It contains air quality monitoring data and information submitted by participating countries throughout Europe.
The air quality database consists of a multi-annual time series of air quality measurement data and statistics for a number of air pollutants. It also contains meta-information on those monitoring networks involved, their stations and their measurements.
The database covers geographically all EU Member States, the EEA member countries and some EEA collaborating countries. The EU Member States are bound under Decision 97/101/EC to engage in a reciprocal exchange of information (EoI) on ambient air quality. The EEA engages with its member and collaborating countries to collect the information foreseen by the EoI Decision because air pollution is a pan European issue and the EEA is the European body which produces assessments of air quality, covering the whole geographical area of Europe.

The WISE-WFD database contains data from River Basin Management Plans reported by EU Members States according to article 13 of the Water Framework Directive. The full database is quite complex and not yet made available for public download. However, a number of aggregation queries have been made, these aggregation queries extract data from the database and present it as data tables that can be downloaded in Excel format.

Most of the reported data are considered final, however, in some cases they are considered provisional by Member States. The aggregation tables are updated when the underlying WFD Database is updated with new or corrected data. It is therefore important to associate the use of any information in the tables with the date in which data was retrieved.

The tables are organised for an access at various levels of overviews versus details - aggregated at country, river basin district (RBD) or in some cases even RBD-subunit level.
