EEAFigure Percentage of European coastal bathing waters complying with mandatory values (or with at least sufficient quality) and meeting guide values (or with excellent quality) for the year 2011 by country
Countries arranged by the percentage of compliance with mandatory values (or at least sufficient quality). Five Member States (Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg and Slovakia) and Switzerland have no coastal bathing waters. The quality classes under the New Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC) are jointed with compliance categories under the Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC).

EEAFigure Total ammonium concentrations in rivers between 1992 and 2010 in different geographical regions of Europe
The data series per region are calculated as the average of the annual mean for river monitoring stations in the region. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). The number of river monitoring stations included per geographical region is given in parentheses.

EEAFigure Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) and total ammonium concentrations in rivers between 1992 and 2010
Concentrations are expressed as annual mean concentrations. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). The number of river monitoring stations included per country is given in metadata (see downloads and more info). BOD7 data has been recalculated into BOD5 data.

EEAFigure Emission trends of tropospheric (ground-level) ozone precursors (EEA member countries, EU-27)
This chart shows past emission trends of nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compunds (NMVOC), carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH4) in the EEA-32 and EU-27 group of countries. In addition - for the EU-27 - the aggregated Member State 2010 emission ceilings for NOx and NMVOC are shown.

EEAFigure Phosphorus concentrations in lakes (total phosphorus) between 1992 and 2010 in different geographical regions of Europe.
The data series per region are calculated as the average of the annual mean for river monitoring stations in the region. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). There were no stations with complete series after inter/extrapolation in the South and Southeast regions. The number of lake monitoring stations included per geographical region is given in parentheses

EEAFigure Phosphorus concentrations in rivers (orthophosphate) between 1992 and 2010 in different geographical regions of Europe.
The data series per region are calculated as the average of the annual mean for river monitoring stations in the region. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). The number of river monitoring stations included per geographical region is given in parentheses

EEAFigure Nitrate concentrations in groundwater between 1992 and 2010 in different geographical regions of Europe.
The data series per region are calculated as the average of the annual mean for groundwater bodies (GWBs) in the region. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). The number of groundwater bodies included per geographical region is given in parentheses.

EEAFigure Average concentrations of nutrients in European groundwaters and surface waters (1992-2010) Fig. 1a: Nitrate in groundwater; Fig. 1b Nitrate in rivers; Fig. 1c Orthophosphate in rivers; and Fig. 1d: Total phosphorus in lakes
Concentrations are expressed as annual mean concentrations. Only complete series after inter/extrapolation are included (see indicator specification). The number of groundwater bodies/river stations/lake stations included per country is given in parenthesis.

EEAFigure Percentage of European coastal bathing waters complying with mandatory values (or with at least sufficient quality) and meeting guide values (or with excellent quality) for the year 2011 by sea region
Sea regions arranged by the percentage of compliance with mandatory values (or at least sufficient quality). EU Member States, Croatia and Montenegro.

EEAFigure Percentage of European inland bathing waters complying with mandatory values (or with at least sufficient quality) and meeting guide values (or with excellent quality) for the year 2011 by sea region
Sea regions arranged by the percentage of compliance with mandatory values (or at least sufficient quality). EU Member States, Croatia and Switzerland. No inland bathing waters are reported from three Member States (Cyprus, Malta and Romania) and Montenegro. The quality classes under the New Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC) are jointed with compliance categories under the Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC).
