EEAFigure CO2 emissions from new passenger cars
ACEA: European automakers association

EEAFigure CO2 emissions from passenger transport (use phase only), EU-27, 2000 and 2005
The figure shows total CO2-emissions (attention: not CO2-equivalents; CH4 and N2O were left out due to data-constraints and insignificance as percentage of total emissions) for different means of transports’ usage-phase in the EU-27. Increasing travel resulted in increased direct emissions of CO2 from 2000 to 2005. Modes of transport with high CO2-intensity are private cars and aviation.

EEAFigure Correlation in growth of passenger transport vs GDP growth
The figure shows the correlation between growth in the economy and growth in passenger transport

EEAFigure Decomposition analyses of the main factors influencing the development of EU-15 CO2 emissions from passenger road transport and freight road transport (1990-2005)

EEAFigure Decomposition analyses of the main factors influencing the development of EU-15 CO2 emissions from passenger road transport and freight road transport (1990-2006)
The red bars show the factors that have the effect of increasing emissions; the green bars show the factors that have a reducing effect

EEAFigure Development of passenger transport volume and GDP in Germany
The figure illustrates the unique example of a decrease in German passenger transport volumes in spite of continued, albeit modest, economic growth.

EEAFigure EU-15 and EU-27 greenhouse gas emissions from transport compared with transport volumes (passenger transport by car and freight transport by road) (1990-2005)
To calculate EU15 greenhouse gas projections, sectoral WAM projections for France and Italy had to be gap-filled
