Climate consortium/Microsoft side event during UNFCC slot at Bella Center


UNEP, the EEA and the European Space Agency have worked together on the brand new 'Environmental Atlas of Europe', a series of short films based on inspirational stories about how people in various places throughout Europe are responding to climate change and, in so doing, transforming their lives for a more sustainable future.

The atlas will be presented through the Eye On Earth portal, developed in a partnership between Microsoft Corporation and the European Environment Agency. As part of this partnership, which combines cutting-edge technology and environmental data, the Eye On Earth portal was recently extended. A new application, AirWatch, now provides information on air quality to more than 500 million people across Europe. For the first time, EEA is bringing together both measured and modelled data and citizens' observations on air quality. The Executive Director of the EEA, Professor Jacqueline McGlade will participate in the side event.
