Figure Percentage of European inland bathing waters complying with mandatory values and meeting guide values of the Bathing Water Directive for the year 2010 by country
Countries arranged by the percentage of compliance with mandatory values. No inland bathing waters are reported from three Member States (Cyprus, Malta and Romania), Croatia and Montenegro. The quality classes under the New Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC) for Hungary and Luxembourg are jointed with compliance categories under the Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC).

Figure Total ammonium concentrations in rivers between 1992 and 2009 draining to different sea regions of Europe
Concentrations are expressed as the average of annual mean concentrations. Up to 3-year gaps of missing values have been interpolated or extrapolated. Only complete series with no missing values after this interpolation/extrapolation are included (see indicator specificatios). The number of river monitoring stations included in the analysis per sea region is noted in brackets.

Figure BOD5 concentrations in rivers between 1992 and 2009 in different geographic regions of Europe
Concentrations are expressed as the average of annual mean concentrations. Up to 3-year gaps of missing values have been interpolated or extrapolated. Only complete series with no missing values after this interpolation/extrapolation are included. The number of river monitoring stations included in the analysis per geographic region is noted in brackets. BOD7 data (Estonia, Finland, Lithuania (1996-2009), Latvia (1996-2001)) has been recalculated into BOD5 data.

Sea regions arranged by the percentage of compliance with mandatory value or at least sufficient quality. EU Member States, Croatia and Switzerland. No inland bathing waters are reported from three Member States (Cyprus, Malta and Romania). The quality classes under the New Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC) are jointed with compliance categories under the Bathing Water Directive (76/160/EEC).
