In order to tackle the new challenges for a sustainable region, it is necessary to make a cross-sectoral and macro-regional approach to sustainable biomass production and use. This conference will focus on the sustainable production and use of biomass for bioenergy in a cross-sectoral and macro-regional perspective.

- The Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference is scheduled to take place in Astana (Kazakhstan) from 21 to 23 September 2011. The Conference is being prepared in accordance with the provisions of Reform Plan of the "Environment for Europe" process. The UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy is the convening body for the preparatory process.

- This conference will focus on ways of using Environmental Fiscal Reform to drive innovation in European companies towards both producing and consuming green and energy efficient products and the communication of Environmental Fiscal Reform.
