  in Copenhagen on 15 March 2012 and will focus on sustainable consumpt
 ion. Sustainable consumption implies the use of goods and services tha
 t respond to basic needs and bring a better quality of life without je
 opardising the needs of future generations. Issues to be discussed at 
 the European Consumer Day 2012 are therefore very relevant. The curren
 t financial crisis plays a role in sustainable consumption patterns as
  new needs have appeared and new ways of buying have emerged.
