VACANCY NOTICE


The European Environment Agency is organising a selection procedure with a view to drawing up a reserve list for:

Environmental project manager (A7/A6) – Reference No. EEA/A/2001/3

Function and task: management and coordination of a range of cross-cutting projects within the EEA work programme, for example on environmental pressures (emissions and waste), cross-media-themes (such as eutrophication, climate change, biodiversity change), sectoral assessment, spatial assessment or integrated assessment methods and tools. The project manager, working to a programme manager, is expected to work across disciplines/themes and will have the following specific tasks:

  • Implement projects within the work programme
  • Liaise and coordinate the activities with relevant EEA staff, topic centres, clients and external contributing partners (institutions, organisations and environmental programmes)
  • Coordinate the activities within EIONET (EEA’s information network)

Qualifications and experience:

  • a university degree in environmental sciences, management, law, economics or related subjects
  • a solid basis and experience of project management techniques and/or providing policy relevant information
  • a minimum of three years relevant experience as a inter-disciplinary environmental project manager
  • a minimum of three years experience working in multi-national organisations or projects, preferably involving EU accession countries as well as EU Member Countries

ELIGIBILITY:

Selection is open to candidates who, on the closing date for the submission of applications, satisfy the following general requirements:

  1. Be a national of one of the Member Countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), or
  2. Be a national of one of the new Member Countries of the EEA (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey): The recruitment of nationals from these countries will be subject to prior ratification of the EEA membership agreement.
  3. Meet the educational requirements as described in the post description.
  4. Enjoy full rights as a citizen.
  5. Have fulfilled any obligations imposed on you by the laws concerning military service.
  6. Meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
  7. Have a thorough knowledge of one of the EEA Member Country languages and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages. Knowledge of English would be an asset.

Candidates must enclose documentary evidence with their applications providing proof of points 1 or 2 and 3 above (incomplete applications will not be considered). Candidates must be prepared to submit proof of other qualifications upon request.
