Reference no. EEA/CA/2005/13 – Project manager - IT system analyst and developer – Contract agent (FG IV)

Purpose of post:

The post comprises of project management, system analysis, programming and implementation of mainly Web based Intranet applications at the EEA. Duties will also include system maintenance and administration of some of the implemented systems.
The technical infrastructure comprises of primarily of Microsoft backend and Desktop products.

Functions and duties:

• Project management and development of mainly internal applications
• Maintain and manage current internal applications
• User support and training in for relevant internal applications

Eligibility:

Education certificates and diplomas:

• A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma.

Range of professional experience and skills:

• A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in the area of the post
• Good experience of Web based programming in .Net with underlying databases (MS SQL server and Oracle) and Microsoft back-office products, as well as in use of Business Objects reporting tool
• Good analytic capabilities and communication skills together with an excellent ability to understand user needs and translating them into IT solutions are necessary, and good sense for quality
• Experience with Commission systems like SIC and SI2 and case tracking systems is beneficial
• Knowledge of Public administration and/or Business administration

• Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the EEA Member Countries and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages. Good knowledge of English would be an asset;

Selection:

The procedure comprises a pre-selection of the best qualified candidates based on the eligibility criteria in relation to the post to be filled. Pre-selected candidates will be called for an interview. The interview will be held for the most part in English.

Recruitment:

The selected candidates shall before recruitment undergo a compulsory medical examination to establish that they meet the standard of physical fitness necessary to perform the duties involved. The selected candidate will be employed for a limited time period not exceeding four years.
