EEA/C/2005/8 - Secretary – Temporary Agent (C*1)


Functions and duties:

The tasks will include several or most of the following:

  • Register incoming and outgoing mail in database
  • Monitor leave and absences
  • Organize missions and meetings
  • Prepare minutes of meetings
  • Drafting of correspondence
  • Proofreading and editing of reports
  • Preparation of presentation materials
  • Assistance in data management
  • Assistance in specific areas depending on the programme to which the candidate will be assigned

Eligibility:

  • Education certificates and diplomas:
    • A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education and professional experience of at least three years.
  • Requirements to be considered essential for selection:
    • Relevant professional background including experience in working in an international environment
    • Excellent knowledge of the main MS Office Software, namely Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Good organisational and interpersonal skills

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

Candidates applying must satisfy the following general requirements on the closing date for the submission of applications:

  • Citizenship of one of the Member Countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey);
  • Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligation imposed by law concerning military service;
  • Meet the educational requirements as described under "Eligibility".
  • Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the EEA Member Countries and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages. Good knowledge of English would be an asset;

Selection:

The procedure comprises a pre-selection of the best qualified candidates based on the eligibility criteria in relation to the post to be filled. Pre-selected candidates will be called for an interview. The interview will be held for the most part in English. Pre-selected candidates for the secretarial post will be asked to undergo a test. The test will consist of editing/drafting of short texts within a specified time.

Recruitment:

The selected candidate shall before recruitment undergo a compulsory medical examination to establish that he/she meets the standard of physical fitness necessary to perform the duties involved. The selected candidate will be employed for an initial time period of four years, renewable.
