The European Environment Agency intends to create a reserve list for Project Managers in the areas of state-of-the-environment reporting and indicator-based reporting:

Job description:


Co-ordination of the production and co-editing of the EEA Environmental State & Outlook report and the regular indicator-based report.


The tasks will be a selection of the following:


Co-ordination of the EEA state-of-the-environment reporting plan

  • Design with relevant staff the reporting plan in connection with EU and international policy developments and events

Co-ordination of the indicator developments in the EEA and its networks

  • Support the implementation of regular indicator-based reporting by the EEA and its European Topic Centres
  • Participate in relevant Community and international activities regarding environmental and sustainable development indicators
  • Stimulate the development of improved indicators and indicator-based reporting

Development of guidelines for state-of-the-environment reporting

  • Produce in close co-operation with the EEA Member Countries reports and documents providing guidance in environment and sustainable development indicators and reporting on the state-of-the-environment

Responsibility for the EEA 5-year State & Outlook report and Environmental signals series

  • Design of the project plan, and the table of contents, including consultation with users
  • Design and management of the compilation process
  • Final editing and steering of the editorial committee

Qualifications and experience:

  • A university degree relevant to the field concerned;
  • At least three years’ professional experience relating to compiling and analysing information on the state-of-the-environment and related policies;
  • Good networking, communication, presentation and motivation skills;
  • Experience in organising large-scale projects covering all environmental issues
  • Experience in working with a broad range of experts with specific expertise, and in international programmes or projects providing environmental information for decision-makers;
  • Experience in communicating with policy-making organisations (the ‘users’ of the reports).

Eligibility:


Candidates applying must satisfy the following general requirements on the closing date for the submission of applications:

  • Be a national of one of the Member Countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, and Turkey). The recruitment of nationals from new membership countries will be subject to prior ratification of the EEA membership agreement;
  • Meet the educational requirements as described under "Qualifications and experience";
  • Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by law concerning military service;
  • Meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
  • Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the EEA Member Countries languages and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages. Good knowledge of English would be an asset.
