Work on reviewing the availability of forward-looking indicators started in 2005, with the aim of enhancing their use in European environmental assessments. Shared Environmental Information System
To improve the collection, exchange and use of environmental data and information across Europe, the "Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS)" was established. SEIS aims to create an integrated web-enabled, EU-wide environmental information system, by simplifying and modernizing existing information systems and processes.
