Data Natura 2000 data - the European network of protected sites
Natura 2000 is the key instrument to protect biodiversity in the European Union. It is an ecological network of protected areas, set up to ensure the survival of Europe's most valuable species and habitats. Natura 2000 is based on the 1979 Bird's Directive and the 1992 Habitat's Directive. The green infrastructure it provides safeguards numerous ecosystem services and ensures that Europe's natural systems remain healthy and resilient.

Data application/vnd.symbian.install EEA coastline for analysis
The EEA coastline for analysis is created for highly detailed analysis, e.g. 1:100 000, for geographical Europe. The criteria for defining the coastline is the line separating water from land. The EEA coastline is a product derived from two sources: EU-Hydro and GSHHG.

Data EEA reference grid
The grid is based on the recommendation at the 1st European Workshop on Reference Grids in 2003 and later INSPIRE geographical grid systems. For each country three vector polygon grid shape files, 1, 10 and 100 km, are available. The grids cover at least country borders - plus 15km buffer - and, where applicable, marine Exclusive Economic Zones v7.0 - plus 15km buffer - (www.vliz.be/vmdcdata/marbound). Note that the extent of the grid into the marine area does not reflect the extent of the territorial waters.

Data Interpolated air quality data
Interpolated maps showing air quality in Europe. The dataset has been reorganised in order to improve data harmonization among years and to facilitate storage and processing of the interpolated maps for the EEA data services.

Data WISE Groundwater
A GWB is defined in WFD Art. 2 as a distinct volume of groundwater within an aquifer or aquifers, whereas an aquifer is defined as a geological layer with significant groundwater flow. This definition of a GWB allows a wide scope of interpretations. The submission of GWB data to the Commission by the EU Member States was accomplished via the Reportnet platform, as a part of the dataflow for WFD. Art. 13 reporting. GWB data includes spatial data as GIS polygons and GWB characteristics in an XML schema. GWBs are registered to so-called horizons, which represent distinct vertical layers of groundwater resources.

Data AirBase - The European air quality database
AirBase is the European air quality database maintained by the EEA through its European topic centre on Air pollution and Climate Change mitigation. It contains air quality monitoring data and information submitted by participating countries throughout Europe. The air quality database consists of a multi-annual time series of air quality measurement data and statistics for a number of air pollutants. It also contains meta-information on those monitoring networks involved, their stations and their measurements. The database covers geographically all EU Member States, the EEA member countries and some EEA collaborating countries. The EU Member States are bound under Decision 97/101/EC to engage in a reciprocal exchange of information (EoI) on ambient air quality. The EEA engages with its member and collaborating countries to collect the information foreseen by the EoI Decision because air pollution is a pan European issue and the EEA is the European body which produces assessments of air quality, covering the whole geographical area of Europe.
