Article Air legislation in Europe
Air pollution is not the same everywhere. Different pollutants are released into the atmosphere from a wide range of sources. Once in the atmosphere, they can transform into new pollutants and spread around the world. Designing and implementing policies to address this complexity are not easy tasks. Below is an overview of air legislation in the European Union.

Data Waterbase - Emissions to water
Emissions to water are an important element (describing the pressure) in assessment of the state of Europe’s environment (SoE). This database contains data on emissions of nutrients and hazardous substances to water, aggregated within River Basin Districts (RBDs), in the EEA member countries. The reporting process, endorsed by the Water Directors, and this publication of the data, enables all stakeholders to use the data and contributes to streamlining with other reporting processes.

Press Release Greenhouse gases: 2011 emissions lower than previously estimated
Greenhouse gases fell by 3.3 % in the EU in 2011, leading to the lowest level of emissions in reports going back to 1990. The decrease in 2011 was also the third largest over this period, according to official data compiled by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and reported by the EU to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Figure D source code Changes in Phosphorus balance and GVA of agriculture in Europe 2000–2008 (EU16 + Norway)
The chart displays changes in emission of phosphorus from agriculture (expressed as phosphorus balance, P-balance) , and the economic output of agriculture and related services and activities expressed as the gross value added (GVA) in Europe between 2000 and 2008. Changes are expressed in %, where values for 2000=100 %.

Publication Road user charges for heavy goods vehicles (HGV)
Tables with external costs of air pollution. In this report, the European Environment Agency (EEA) presents updated estimates of the external costs of air pollution for different categories of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). This report on road transport is a continuation of previous reporting from EEA on estimates for the external costs of air pollution from industrial facilities (EEA, 2011).
