Corine land cover 2006 is the latest update of the CLC database as part of the European Commission programme to COoRdinate INformation on the Environment (Corine) started in the early 1990s. Forest ecosystems play a vital role for the environment and in combatting climate change. The report recommends that better sustainable management is needed to ensure this precious green resource is there for future generations.
