Status of fish stocks in International Council for Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) fishing regions of Europe: The map shows the status of the fish stocks in ICES and GFCM fishing regions of Europe in 2008. Status of fish stocks was assessed in 2009 (ICES) and from 2002-2009 (GFCM), although data refers to 2008 in the ICES regions and 2005 in the GFCM regions.

Observed change in chlorophyll-a concentrations in coastal and open waters of the Baltic, North East Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, 1985-2010: The map shows stations with a statistically significant decrease (green), increase (red) or no trend (yellow) within the period 1985-2010. Selected stations must have at least data in the period from 2007 to present and at least 5 years data in all. Note that the open sea stations around Faroe Islands are included under Celtic Seas.

The maps display water quality parameters in various receiving waters across Europe, alongside information on urban wastewater treatment and receiving areas sensitive to eutrophication.

In-shore (within 12 nautical miles) and off‑shore Natura 2000 sites: A map showing the distribution of marine Natura 2000 sites. The map distinguishes between those marine sites within 12 nautical miles (termed ‘Inshore sites’) and those beyond 12 nautical miles (termed ‘Offshore sites’). It is based upon the ‘end 2009’ Natura 2000 dataset.
